About
Welcome to the world of Evanou art created by a self-taught painter Ieva Noula. "Evanou" is a pseudonym formed by contracting two of her given names, which she has adopted as her artistic name. As a self-taught artist, Evanou has followed a unique path driven by her passion for art and her desire to capture the beauty of life on canvas.
Born in Lithuania, Evanou’s journey has taken her across the world, from Vilnius, to Amsterdam, San Francisco, Berlin and now Thessaloniki, where she currently resides. Evanou’s early years were spent in a world of numbers, equations and logic. She studied mathematics and worked in the financial industry, but she always felt something was missing in her life. She yearned for something more creative, more expressive, and more fulfilling.
After becoming a mother in her late 30s, Evanou decided to take a leap of faith and follow her heart’s desire. She began her journey as a self-taught painter, with little experience in arts. With no formal training, she relied on her innate talent and unwavering determination to hone her skills as a painter.
Drawing on her diverse experiences and influences, Evanou’s poetic painting style is a unique blend of realism and impressionism. Her art showcases her fascination with the visibility of brushstrokes within a painting, which adds a unique character and texture to her work.
While enjoying a variety of subjects, Evanou finds herself gravitating mostly towards figurative and portrait painting. Her subject matter primarily consists of women lost in their thoughts or captured in moments of reflection, calm and quiet. Her paintings evoke a sense of peacefulness and serenity, inviting the viewer to take a moment to pause and reflect on their own emotions and experiences. She is inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and uses mostly earthy tones and muted colour palettes to convey a sense of simplicity and harmony.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Evanou and her artwork. We hope that her paintings inspire you to slow down, reflect and find moments of stillness in a busy and chaotic world.
