Hi, I’m Ieva Noula, the artist behind Evanou Art. 'Evanou' is a blend of my first and last name, and it’s the name I’ve chosen to represent my creative journey. As a self-taught artist, my path has been shaped by my love for art and a passion for capturing the beauty of life on canvas.
I was born in Lithuania, but life has taken me across the world, from Vilnius to Amsterdam, San Francisco, Berlin, and now Thessaloniki, where I currently live. In my early years, I studied mathematics and worked in the financial industry, but I always felt something was missing. I longed for something more creative, expressive, and fulfilling.
Becoming a mother in my late 30s was a turning point for me. It gave me the courage to take a leap of faith and follow my heart’s desire. That’s when I began my journey as a self-taught painter, even though I had little experience in the arts. With no formal training, I relied on my natural instincts and a lot of determination to develop my skills. My painting style is shaped by all the experiences and influences I’ve gathered along the way, blending elements of realism and impressionism with a touch of poetry. I’ve always been drawn to the visible texture of brushstrokes, there’s something magical about how they bring character and life to a painting.
While I enjoy exploring a variety of subjects, I’m mostly drawn to figurative and still life painting. My work often focuses on women caught in quiet moments, lost in thought or reflection. I aim to create a sense of peacefulness in my paintings. I’m often inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian minimalism, and I tend to work with earthy tones and muted colour palettes to bring a sense of harmony and balance to my art.
